New City Circle
What is New City Circle?
New City Circle (NCC) is the Parent Advisory Council for New City School. NCC is a family-run, family-centered group supporting children, parents, teachers, and the school through social events, volunteering, fundraising, and communication. We come together to share our vision, experiences, and skills to support a positive, successful academic and social-emotional experience for our children.
Throughout the school year, NCC hosts parent meetings to discover more about our students’ learning, fellowship with other parents, collaborate on annual activities, share our ideas with New City staff and administration, and more. We aim to listen deeply to our school community, respecting the wisdom of our many and diverse voices, and creatively engage our community through in-person as well as digital connections (such as facebook – go to facebook.com/groups/newcitycircle to request to join us there).
Supervised child care, including snacks and activities, is available during this time so you can connect with other New City School parents while your children have fun! Meetings are at 6:00pm – come for as much of the meeting as you can (it’s ok to come late or leave early), and come to one, many, or all of our meetings.
This year’s meetings will be held on:
One of the supportive functions of NCC is to galvanize our base with exciting fundraising opportunities. We help make connections between the financial resources of our community and the diverse, changing, and creative interests of our learning communities. The money we raise supports teacher wish lists, helps them to receive grant money, and allows stretch goals to become reality, in addition to providing teacher appreciation food, community events, and other projects. Our children and teachers benefit from the healthy financial support of an engaged community.
This year, in addition to time-honored stand-bys like monthly coffee sales, year-round T-shirt sales, and the Pancake Dinner & Bingo Night, we’re going to offer an online donation link. We need YOUR help to get this project off the ground. We want to be able to share our link, and the projects it supports, far and wide – from parents to family and friends of New City School children. Can you help? Email the Co-Chairs at email@example.com – and thanks!

New City Circle welcomes all. If you’re ready to bite off a big chunk or take just a nibble, we would love to offer you a taste at our table. We are parents, too! Many hands make light work, and we have each other’s backs when times get tough. We want you to be a part of the New City Circle in whatever way you find best. If you are interested in learning more, please contact New City Circle Co-Chairs Andrea Murrill or Sarah Hernandez at email@example.com.
There are many ways to help us support and build a great school community. You can find out about activities, connect with other parents, and stay informed about upcoming events on our facebook group (facebook.com/groups/newcitycircle – request to join us; it’s a private group, so you need to be added to follow and make posts), or by joining our email list (send us a note at firstname.lastname@example.org). Look for NCC volunteering opportunities, event details, meeting reminders, and other NCC info in school emails from Alma and flyers in the Wednesday folders. Come, join us!
